His son has been with Apeejay School, Pitampura, right from the beginning. In fact, his daughter also passed out from the same school and was always the family’s priority. Since the school has always been very strong in academics as well as personality development, it was naturally their first choice for their children.
“My first impression was during the nursery admission orientation. Even that initial interaction was impressive. The orientation was organised thoughtfully, and it left us with a very positive first impression of the school,” Ajay Garg, whose son Amogh is, at present, the Head Boy of the school, shared.
Looking back, what qualities do you think helped your son reach this stage as a leader?
He has always been calm and quite helpful by nature. He is also a good listener. These traits, I believe, are what his friends and teachers appreciate about him. Perhaps that is what allowed him to take on a leadership role.
Over the years, how has the school helped build your son’s confidence?
The school has played a major role in shaping his confidence. Initially, teachers would give him small responsibilities, such as assembly duties or small roles during class events. Those opportunities helped him build confidence gradually. Over time, these experiences prepared him for bigger responsibilities, which eventually led to him becoming the Head Boy.
How do you think being the Head Boy has shaped his personality?
He has become more disciplined and responsible. He is also much more mindful of his reputation and behaviour because he understands that others look up to him now. Being the Head Boy has made him more aware of maintaining certain standards.
How did you support him in balancing academics with his responsibilities as Head Boy?
We always encouraged him to make the most of the opportunity he received. We told him that if he had been given such a responsibility, he should perform it to the best of his ability. At the same time, his studies continued alongside these responsibilities. We believe that if someone is committed, there is always enough time to manage everything.
What career path does he aspire to pursue?
He is currently studying Commerce and is aspiring to pursue Chartered Accountancy. Every child is different. As parents, our role is to support them in whatever pursuits they choose, whether professional, personal, or social. Children need space and encouragement. We cannot impose our own views on them. They need to feel that freedom to choose their path.
How would you define freedom?
It does not mean a complete absence of guidance. We discuss things with them and try to understand what they really want. If we feel something may not be the right direction, we gently guide them. But the first step is always to understand the child’s interests and aspirations.
What values do you hope your son carries forward in life?
The most important qualities are humility and kindness. I would want him to remain humble and grateful for the opportunities he has received. Not everyone gets the same opportunities in life. When you do receive such opportunities, you must respect them and live up to them.
What role have the teachers at Apeejay School played in your son’s journey?
The teachers have played a very important role. The academic environment and overall atmosphere at Apeejay School are truly impressive. Teachers focus on every student individually and encourage them to seek help whenever needed. They are available after school, during class hours, and even during holidays to support students. At parent-teacher meetings, teachers are always approachable and willing to help. The school provides complete support; in fact, the teachers put in more than 100 % effort for students.
