In a heart-warming act of compassion and community service, the Interact Club of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, undertook a memorable visit to the institute for the blind (Andh Vidyalaya) at Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar, recently. As part of the club’s ongoing initiative, Project Ann Daan, this outreach aimed to support and engage with visually impaired students from Classes I to VIII.
The interactors arrived with eight thoughtfully packed boxes containing essential food items such as rice, wheat flour, pulses, lentils, sugar, and biscuits. These contributions were made to aid the daily nutritional needs of the school and were received with gratitude by the institution’s staff.
What made the visit truly special, however, was the genuine connection built between the Interactors and the students. The visitors were captivated by the incredible talents of the visually impaired children. Several students mesmerised the audience with their melodious singing, while others amazed everyone with their exceptional reading speed in Braille. Their confidence, warmth, and resilience left an indelible impression on the visiting students.
This interaction provided the interactors with not just an opportunity to give, but also to learn. Witnessing the determination and positivity of these young students, despite their challenges, inspired the interactors to reflect on the strength of the human spirit. The visit was an eye-opener and a humbling experience, reminding everyone of the importance of inclusivity, empathy, and gratitude.
The Interact Club hopes to continue such impactful initiatives in the future, spreading kindness and building bridges of understanding and support across diverse communities. Through meaningful service and shared experiences, the club continues to live up to its mission of creating socially responsible and compassionate young leaders.
