After the pressure of Class X Board exams, students often tend to relax a little in Class XI, knowing that the real challenge lies ahead in Class XII. However, a few committed students maintain their academic discipline and keep up their momentum right from the start. Their dedication and focus help them shine consistently throughout. Among them are three bright Commerce students from Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, who have set an inspiring example with their hard work and outstanding performance.
Meet Divit Madaan (scored 91.4%), Venya Narang (scored 84.6%), and Fiza Masoun (scored 84.2%). In a candid interview, they shared their study strategies and plans.
Divit was delighted with his result since he felt that all his hard work had paid off. His study strategy was simple. “It was all about consistent effort. No matter how much you study, what matters is that you keep studying regularly throughout the year. That way, you don’t let the pressure build up during the exams. While after Class X you feel like taking a break, it’s important to stay consistent because Class XI is the base for Class XII and also for competitive exams,” the DU aspirant shared.
His teachers, too, played their part. They were always very supportive. Whether it was completing the syllabus on time or clearing our doubts, they were always there to help. “I plan to appear for the CUET after Class XII. I haven’t completely decided yet, but I’m leaning towards pursuing a BCom (Hons) or maybe Economics,” he said.
Venya was genuinely surprised and very happy. Getting this kind of percentage in Class XI felt like a big achievement. I wasn’t expecting such good marks, so it was a wonderful surprise. “I had a plan in mind. Since Class XI introduces a whole new set of subjects, I made time schedules to manage everything. I used to give more priority to subjects like Math and Accounts every day, as they needed more focus compared to others,” she said and added that she chose Commerce because it offers more career options and opportunities.
The teachers were extremely supportive, Venya shared, who plans to study abroad for her Master’s. “They always cleared my doubts patiently and provided us with worksheets for regular practice. These worksheets were based on what was covered in class and included additional practice questions, which helped strengthen my understanding,” she said.
Fiza, too, was happy and satisfied with her result since she believes in hard work. “I studied consistently from the beginning of the session. Even if you don’t score well at first, consistent hard work eventually pays off — and then you begin to enjoy studying,” the Chartered Account aspirant said and added that the teachers were always there to lend a helping hand and guide her.
But it was her parents who helped her understand which subjects to focus on and what options she has in the future. “We often discuss what I should be doing next, and this keeps me focused on my goal,” she shared.
