With Board exams for Classes X and XII in a few weeks, it is natural for students to feel the pressure. The long study hours, constant revisions and the thought of performing well often leave many feeling anxious and restless. Stress during this phase is common, but learning how to handle it can make all the difference for success.
Excessive worry can affect focus, reduce memory retention and even leave students feeling tired before the exam day arrives. That’s why it’s important to adopt simple practices that not only calm the mind but also keep the body healthy. Even a short break for a walk, light exercise or a few minutes of mindful breathing can refresh the mind and bring back concentration.
Sharing her thoughts on the subject, Prerna Arya, an alumna of Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, an EFT (trained in using Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner, and an emotional wellness coach said, “Students can reduce stress by practising relaxation techniques like deep breathing and meditation, and by maintaining healthy habits like regular sleep, exercise, and nutritious eating. The most important thing is that students should not compare themselves with others, as everyone is unique. Believe in yourself, and you will reach your goal.”
Her advice is a reminder that exams are not just about studying harder but also about caring for oneself. Proper sleep, balanced meals and small moments of relaxation can go a long way in improving performance.
Most importantly, students must remember that comparison only adds to the pressure. Everyone learns differently, and success comes from focusing on one’s own path. By believing in themselves and staying consistent, students can face exams with confidence rather than fear.
So, as the big day approaches, take a deep breath, stay healthy and trust your preparation. Stress may come knocking, but with the right approach, you can keep it under control.
