Simple habits, big results: Students share their success mantras

Consistency, curiosity, and confidence – these are the defining traits of the star performers of Class 6 (session 2024–25) at Apeejay School, Kharghar. Now in Class 7, these young achievers have not only scored exceptionally well but have also shown that academic excellence is a journey marked by daily discipline and a love for learning. In a candid telephonic conversation, the toppers – Avni Sahoo, Anika Rao, Ritwik Bhatt, and Vihaan Somani – shared their study habits, inspirations, and goals. Let’s hear from them!

Avni Sahoo – A Future Scientist in the Making (Score: 96.9125%)

A calm and composed student, Avni attributes her success to daily revision and consistency. “I study for one or two hours every day, so when the exams come, there’s no pressure,” she shares. Her method of making notes during class in a rough notebook helps her stay connected with the chapters even at home.

Avni gives immense credit to her teachers and parents for her performance. “90% of my concepts are cleared in school thanks to the excellent teaching. At home, I just revise,” she adds. Passionate about science and astronomy, she dreams of becoming a scientist and uncovering the mysteries of the universe. Her message to juniors is simple: “Be regular in studies, interact with teachers, and always revise.” Alongside studies, Avni is also active in music, dance, sports, and art – maintaining a holistic balance.

Anika Rao – Curious, Consistent, and Science-Loving (Score: 94.225%)

Anika’s mantra for success is “regular study and note-making.” She carries a small notebook to class to jot down key points and doubts in real-time. “Running notes really helps. They show you what you’ve understood and what needs more work,” she explains.

With strong support from her teachers and parents, Anika has developed a love for science – especially topics like matter and space. “Science is everywhere,” she says with enthusiasm. In Class 7, she’s already diving into new topics with excitement and plans to aim for the top spot again, with an eye on cracking the JEE in the future.

Ritwik Bhatt – The Strategist and Olympiad Winner (Score: 94.35%)

Ritwik stands out with his structured study plan and love for analytical subjects. A dedicated chess player, he credits the game for enhancing his concentration. “I follow a timetable, avoid distractions, and prepare for Olympiads which boosts my understanding,” he says.

He revises using textbooks, past papers, and worksheets and appreciates the strong academic foundation laid by his teachers.. Ritwik’s hobbies include reading (he’s a fan of the Harry Potter series), playing cricket, and chess. His message to peers: “Don’t procrastinate. Study daily and keep practicing.”

Vihaan Somani – Calm, Composed, and Committed (Score: 94.3125%)

Vihaan swears by meditation to improve his focus. “It helps me concentrate better,” he shares. His preparation involved reviewing textbooks, notes, and solving questions regularly. Time management was key – he balanced two hours of outdoor play with dedicated study sessions.

With strong guidance from his teachers and parents, Vihaan particularly worked on improving his Maths score this year and succeeded. “My favourite subject is Maths. I practiced one hour every day to improve,” he says proudly. Vihaan enjoys drawing and reading beyond textbooks, which helps him relax and stay inspired.
