Sashmith, since when did you start drawing?
I started drawing and painting at the age of two. It was always in my mind. My parents still hold onto my earliest paintings as cherished memories.
And which art form is your favourite?
I have spent hours creating colorful masterpieces with crayons, markers, and finger paints. All art forms are wonderful, and I still have a lot to learn. I love Phad painting and recently completed one of them.
So how does your school support you as an artist?
Having dedicated teachers who support and guide you in your passion for painting and drawing can truly make a difference. My school has always provided a supportive environment that has allowed me to improve and grow as an artist.
But before anything else, please tell: What art means to you?
Art is a way to express ourselves. It symbolizes what we feel at the moment and what’s on our mind. It’s an expression and emotion, capturing our innermost thoughts and feelings.
So how much time does it take you to complete one artwork? What are the common ideas and themes?
I experiment with different mediums and techniques, from watercolors to acrylics to charcoal. I study the work of famous artists and spend countless hours perfecting my art. There’s no specific time for completing an artwork. I often choose themes based on spiritualism, creating spiritualistic art.
And any upcoming artworks?
I am working on a Pithora painting on canvas.
A new art form you wish to learn?
I recently discovered a painting of the Gond tribe during a summer vacation to Mussoorie. I want to create a fine painting of Gond art, which is traditionally done by the ancestors of the Gond tribal people.
Lastly, do you have other hobbies apart from art?
I love sports and Badminton is my favorite. I have also recently joined Tabla classes. Both hobbies go hand in hand with my love for art.
