Apeejay School, Kharghar believes that education goes beyond textbooks, and this belief came alive on February 2, 2026, when students of Class VI D participated in a road safety awareness workshop titled ‘Road Safety – Save Life’. The workshop was organised by the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate as part of its 37th Road Safety Mission – 2026, with the aim of sensitising young learners to responsible behaviour on roads.
Eminent Dignitaries Inspire Young Minds
The programme was graced by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Milind Bharambe, Police Commissioner, Navi Mumbai; Mr. Mangesh Chitale, Commissioner, Panvel Municipal Corporation; and Mr. Sanjay Yenpure, Joint Commissioner of Police. Adding a special touch to the event, renowned actor Mr. Swapnil Joshi attended as the Chief Guest, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and making the learning experience more relatable and impactful.
One of the highlights of the workshop was its creative approach to learning. A puppet show by Suchitra Indulkar presented vital road safety messages in a simple yet memorable manner. This was followed by a mime and skit performed by students of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science, which poignantly portrayed the devastating impact of road accidents on families and society. The emotional performances encouraged students to reflect on the real-life consequences of negligence on roads.
The programme also featured patriotic songs by Shri Sai Ram Iyer, which reinforced the idea that following traffic rules is not just a personal responsibility but a civic duty.
Practical Lessons for Everyday Life
Through interactive discussions, students learned about traffic signals and road signs, the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, maintaining speed limits, avoiding distractions while commuting, and practising pedestrian safety. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Swapnil Joshi highlighted the role of discipline and awareness in ensuring safety, urging students to become responsible road users from a young age.
Building Responsible Future Citizens
The workshop proved to be both informative and engaging, leaving a lasting impression on the students. By blending creativity with practical knowledge, the session successfully nurtured awareness, responsibility, and alertness—essential qualities for shaping law-abiding and safety-conscious citizens of the future.
