
Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, marked the occasion of World Heritage Day with an inspiring and educational celebration under the leadership of Principal Mr AK Sharma and the support of the Vice-principal Mrs Aarti Shorey Bhat. The event was made possible by the dedication of the staff and the enthusiastic participation of the students.
The day began with a special assembly that set a positive tone as students gathered to pay homage to the importance of cultural heritage. The assembly commenced with a prayer seeking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by a motivational thought presented by a student, which reflected on the significance of preserving our cultural legacy. The thought of the day emphasised the role of history in shaping the present and future, setting the theme for the event.
The highlight of the morning assembly was an informative talk, which aimed to raise awareness about World Heritage Day. The speaker educated the students about the importance of preserving not only natural landmarks but also cultural monuments that hold immense historical value. This talk set the stage for a deeper exploration of India’s rich heritage and how these landmarks connect us to our past.
Students from Classes IX and X brought the theme of heritage to life with a captivating play that depicted various historical monuments of India. The performance was both informative and engaging, providing students with valuable insights into the history, architecture, and cultural significance of some of India’s most famous landmarks, such as the Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, and Red Fort. Through their performances, the students demonstrated not only their acting skills but also their deep understanding and respect for the country’s cultural treasures.
The event also featured a video presentation showcasing various monuments around the world. This visual experience captivated the students and served as an educational tool, enhancing their understanding of global heritage and fostering a greater appreciation for preserving these treasures for future generations.
In his address, the Principal emphasised the importance of preserving our heritage. He highlighted that, “Historical monuments are valuable resources, offering us lessons from the past. By learning from history, we can avoid repeating mistakes and create a more promising future.” Mr Sharma’s speech encouraged students to take pride in their cultural heritage and understand its role in shaping their identities.
