Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, is home to many bright young talents—but few shine as quietly and beautifully as Riyanshi. Selected as this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist, she’s known for her love for realism in art, her expressive storytelling, and her ability to capture emotion with a pencil or paintbrush. Whether she’s sketching a serene mountain view or writing horror fiction online, Riyanshi’s creativity flows freely—and always from the heart. Read edited excerpts:
Since when have you been drawing?
I’ve been drawing since I was around two years old! It started as something fun and quickly became a passion. I just love doing it—it makes me feel calm and happy.
Which art form do you love the most, and why?
I absolutely love realism. There’s something magical about creating something that looks so lifelike with just paint and brushes. I’ve made quite a few portraits of people close to me—it’s always special to bring their expressions to life.
How does your school support your artistic journey?
My school plays a big role! They organise art competitions, which really motivate me to keep improving. My teachers are very encouraging—they always push me to do better and appreciate my work with so much warmth.
What does art mean to you?
To me, art is more than a hobby—it’s my escape. When I draw, I forget all my worries. It’s like a quiet friend that helps me stay focused and happy, especially when life feels overwhelming.
How long does it usually take to complete one of your artworks?
It depends! If it’s something really detailed, like a fine portrait or realistic design, it can take me 6 to 7 hours. But if I’m doing a simple scenery, like a peaceful landscape, I can usually finish it in about 1 to 2 hours.
What themes or ideas do you usually explore in your art?
Mostly, I focus on what brings me joy—whether that’s nature, people, or peaceful settings. I want to create something I feel proud of and genuinely enjoy working on.
Are you working on anything new right now?
Yes! I’m currently working on a landscape with mountains and a sunny road—something serene and cheerful. It’s a simple piece but very close to my heart.
Apart from art, do you enjoy any other creative hobbies?
Definitely! I love writing stories online—it’s such a fun way to use my imagination. I mostly write horror stories, actually. They’re my favourite to create because I can build suspense and invent twists that surprise even me!
