The National Testing Agency (NTA) postponed the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2024 scheduled for June 12 due to technical issues. The exam, set for 2 pm to 5 pm, faced problems at multiple centres, leading to the decision to defer it. NTA announced that a new date will be provided soon on the official NCET portal.
In an official statement, NTA expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to candidates and stakeholders. Out of 40,233 registered candidates, approximately 29,000 attended the exam at 292 centres in 160 cities across the country, as per biometric registration data.
The NCET 2024 is a computer-based test (CBT) lasting three hours, with no negative marking for incorrect answers. The exam comprises 66 subjects, including 38 languages, 26 domain subjects, one General Test, and one Teaching Aptitude Test. Candidates are required to take seven subjects: two languages, three domain subjects, one General Test, and one Teaching Aptitude Test.
This entrance test is crucial for admission to the Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) for the academic session 2024-25. The programme is offered at selected central/state universities and institutes, including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and government colleges.
Further updates regarding the rescheduled date for the NCET 2024 will be communicated through the official NCET portal.
