Navroz Singh, a Class 7 student at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, has already established himself as a talented young artist. Chosen as this week’s Aspiring Artist, Navroz shares the story behind his passion for sketching and his artistic inspirations.
When did your journey in art begin?
I began drawing in 2018, while I was in Class 2 or 3. It all started when I saw a drawing reel on YouTube that fascinated me. I tried sketching, and from there, my interest grew. Later, I found anime drawings that I wanted to replicate. Each drawing motivates me to improve in the next one.
How does your school encourage your artistic talent?
The school is very supportive. We are encouraged to submit our drawings to our class teacher, who then sends them to the Apeejay Newsroom website for showcasing. To see my drawings up with others on such a prestigious platform feels so great!
What art form do you enjoy the most?
Sketching is my favorite. I believe a sketch can express emotions more vividly than other forms of art. My favorite sketch is one of Rohit Sharma, created after he won the T20 World Cup. Even though I’m a bigger fan of Virat Kohli, that sketch is special.
Do you have other hobbies besides art?
Yes, I enjoy playing football and cricket. I even sketched Cristiano Ronaldo once!
But how long does it usually take you to finish a sketch?
A small, rough sketch can be done in about half an hour, but larger, more detailed works can take double or triple that time.
Which art channels do you follow on social media?
I follow several, including Saurav Joshi Arts, SS Arts1, and Be Creative871. I also run my own channel, where I share my work and experiences as an artist.
