‘My teachers were my biggest mentors,’ says Apeejay School, Pitampura alumnus

Some dreams take root early, and for Vedant Sharma, numbers were always more than just digits on a page. An alumnus of Apeejay School, Pitampura, batch of 2013, Vedant is successfully carving his path in the finance world,  en route to Chartered Accountancy and excelling in the finance field. Yet, no matter how far he has come, the memories of his school days remain precious for this introverted humble soul.

In this fun-filled chat, Vedant takes a nostalgic stroll down memory lane, sharing school-day anecdotes, his love for commerce, and the lessons that continue to shape his life.

Looking back, Vedant, how would you describe your Apeejay Pitampura days? What made them special for you?

My days at Apeejay Pitampura were some of the best years of my life. The friendships, the laughter, and the incredible learning environment made school feel like a second home. It wasn’t just about growth but also memorable experiences. The sense of community, belonging and support from teachers and friends shaped me in ways I truly appreciate today.

Any funny incidents or inspiring moments that still bring a smile to your face?

Oh, there are so many! One of my fondest memories is from our annual function rehearsals—late-night practices, the fun chaos backstage, and the endless laughter with friends. Those moments made school life truly special.

Annual days are always magical! And what were your favorite subjects in school, and how did they shape your academic interests?

Accountancy and Economics were my absolute favourites. They weren’t just subjects for me; they were like puzzles waiting to be solved. The more I studied, the more I became fascinated with how businesses function, how markets operate, and how financial systems shape economies. These subjects sparked my curiosity and laid the foundation for my career in finance.

And this drew you toward commerce? Was there a defining moment that made you choose this path?

Yes, definitely! Commerce felt like a natural fit because I enjoyed numbers and understanding how money moves. The idea of understanding how finances are managed and also analyzing economic trends seemed fascinating. That’s when I knew this was my calling.

Beyond academics, were you involved in any sports or extracurricular activities? We heard you played a lot of football and cricket!

Yes! Sports were a huge part of my school life. Football and cricket, in particular, were my absolute favorites. We had an amazing school team, and I was lucky enough to be part of it. I still remember the thrill of inter-school tournaments—the adrenaline, the cheers, and the sheer joy of the game. We had a great school team and even won a few inter-school tournaments.

And finally, how did your teachers at Apeejay Pitampura guide and support you?

My teachers were my biggest mentors. They made even the most complex concepts feel simple and always encouraged me to think beyond textbooks. They motivated me to pursue my passion for commerce. I am truly grateful to them!
