“My daughter’s personality development has been very encouraging”

Choosing the right school for a child’s first formal learning experience is a significant decision for every parent. For Mr Nadeem Qureshi, father of Mizna Qureshi from Nursery at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, the journey so far has been reassuring and rewarding. He shares how the school’s nurturing environment, proactive teachers and strong parent-school coordination have helped his daughter grow in confidence, creativity and social skills.

Read edited excerpts:

What changes have you noticed in Mizna since she joined Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park?
There have been numerous positive changes. Mizna has become noticeably more confident and expressive. She has developed a keen interest in activities like painting, dancing and collaboration. The school also gives children opportunities for public speaking, such as speech presentations, which has really helped her open up. Overall, her personality development has been very encouraging.

How has the school contributed to her social and behavioural growth?
Earlier, Mizna was a little hesitant about sharing things with others. Now, she is much more comfortable interacting and sharing, both in school and at home. We have also seen her become more respectful and mannered in daily activities. This shows that the values being taught at school are reflecting in her behaviour beyond the classroom.

How has your experience been with parent counselling and teacher interactions?
Our experience has been extremely positive. We attended the initial counselling session during admission, and after that, regular PTM Connect sessions have been very helpful. What stands out is the ease of communication with the class teacher. Whenever I pick Mizna up from school, I connect with her teacher for instant feedback. This helps us understand her weekly progress instead of waiting for formal meetings.

Has Mizna shared any moments from school that made you feel confident about your choice?
Yes, absolutely. Every day she comes back with stories about answering questions in class, receiving stars or appreciation from her teacher, and being applauded by classmates. These small moments play a big role in boosting her confidence, and as parents, we truly value that.

How have the teachers and school leadership helped Mizna settle in comfortably?
Our interaction with her class teacher has been wonderful. She is always approachable, supportive and open to feedback. Even the Primary Wing leadership is very involved. It feels reassuring when senior members of the school know students by name and are aware of their progress. That personal attention makes a big difference.
