‘My current work profile strongly aligns with my career goals’

Mohit Kumar is an alumnus of Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka. He pursued his Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing at the college and has recently graduated. Employed currently at Deloitte as a tax consultant with many files to look into and a super busy schedule, the alumnus gives us a rapid interview and offers key advice from his management sojourn. Read edited excerpts:

Tell us about your work experience at Deloitte?

Well, I am a tax consultant at Deloitte and my work largely revolves around preparing tax returns for US corporations. My usual work hours are 40-45 hours a week and yes, it is a great experience for me. This was the field I chose for myself and I am enjoying every day – in fact, every file, every project is a new learning window for me.

Is this job profile in sync with your career ambition?

Yes, it is. See, I am a finance enthusiast so I feel that my present work profile strongly aligns with my career goals. It is one step closer to my ambitions as it is preparing me well in the finance sector.

Throwback to ASM days! Some memories or snippets you’d like to share?

It was indeed a great time to spend two years at ASM. These two years were packed with many episodes of fun and learning. I would like to thank all my classmates and wish them the best with their goals. They gave me the perfect environment to grow. I extend my respect to all the teachers there for their constant support and encouragement.

One life lesson you learnt at ASM?

Being a finance guy, one life lesson which gained my attention was to spend your money wisely. Keep money and it will keep you!

So, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I would see myself in a private cabin in a big multinational corporation with a cup of coffee and lots of work.

Your piece of advice to the current ASM students

Do good and good things will come to you! Can’t get more simple than this. Always be kind and do your best.
