Mindfulness in action that touched young hearts

A mindful and thoughtful session was organised for the students of Class III-B at Apeejay School Model Town. The session was led by the school Counsellor and focused on a theme that sits at the heart of emotional learning. The impact of words on feelings.

The session was designed to be simple, relatable, and age-appropriate. It created a safe space where children could listen, reflect, and respond with honesty.

The Counsellor began with a short and engaging story that carried a clear message. Words are like seeds. Kind words bring happiness and warmth. Negative words can cause sadness and hurt. The story was easy to follow and allowed the students to connect their daily experiences with the idea being shared.

As the story unfolded, the children listened with attention and curiosity. They understood that words do not disappear once spoken. They stay with people and shape how they feel.

A simple choice with a strong message

After the story, the students were shown two hearts. One happy. One sad. They were asked to choose the heart that they felt represented the kind of words they wanted to use. The response was immediate and unanimous. Every student chose the happy heart.

This small activity spoke volumes. It showed that even at a young age, children understand empathy and the value of kindness.

The session ended on a reflective note. Students were encouraged to be mindful of their words with friends, teachers, and family. What this really means is learning to pause before speaking and choosing words with care.

The session was warm, meaningful, and memorable. It reinforced an essential life lesson. Kind words build happy hearts. This learning will continue to guide the students of Apeejay School, Model Town, long after the session ended.
