Since her earliest years, this young artist has had a pencil in hand, sketching her way through life. Art has always been more than a hobby—it’s a passion encouraged by her parents and her teachers at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. While excelling academically, her heart is imagining vibrant artistic horizons.
Meet Trishika Raj Singh, a class 3 student, who selected as this week’s Aspiring Artist, shares her love for art through words.
So when did drawing come into your life?
I have started drawing ever since I could pick up a pencil. Drawing has been my favorite hobby during leisure time. My parents always encouraged me to follow my passion. Despite being excellent in school academics, art has always been my favourite thing to do.
So, which art form is your favourite and why?
My favourite art form is painting as it is a journey of self-expression and discovery. It inspires me to capture a moment, an emotion, or a concept through the use of colors, textures and shapes, which result in a powerful visual experience.
But how does your school support you as an artist?
My school teachers have always been supportive of my love for art in creativity and self-expression. The school provides me ample opportunities to experiment and explore my artistic abilities. It also helps me to foster a sense of ownership and pride in my work, which in turn boosts confidence and motivation.
That’s great! So what does art mean to you?
Art is the expression of individual ideas and emotions through a physical medium, using skill and imagination to create something beautiful or meaningful.
Wow, very well said, so how much time does it take you to complete an artwork? What are your common ideas and themes?
It depends on the piece and complexity of the illustration to complete every artwork. My common themes of art are portrait, emotion, environment, nature’s beauty and spirituality.
Upcoming artworks from you?
I am currently working on Hand Print art for Diwali. It is great fun and exciting.
A new artform you wish to learn?
Yes! I belong to Madhubani district of Bihar so I really want to learn Madhubani or Mithila painting art forms. It inspires me to learn not only about my heritage through it but also learn such a picturesque artform.
Finally, what about your other hobbies apart from art?
My hobbies apart from art include dancing, reading books and skating.
