Taksh Kaushik is a talented student of Apeejay School, Greater Noida, who has turned his imagination into a published book titled Captain Clumsy. Inspired by Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants, Taksh has created a laugh-out-loud superhero with a unique twist. In this interview, he shares what sparked his idea, how the book got published, and what lies ahead for his clumsy yet lovable hero.
Taksh, please tell us about your book. What is the story about?
My book is based on a superhero named Phill, also known as Captain Clumsy. He got his disastrous powers from a toaster, and he fights crime with his amazing clumsiness. The story is full of funny moments and unexpected turns.
Lovely! And what inspired you to write such a unique book?
The amazing Captain Underpants series by Dav Pilkey inspired me to write this book. I loved how Pilkey made a superhero who is funny and imperfect, so I wanted to create my own version—a hero who saves the day in his own silly way!
So, did your school teachers and friends congratulate you on your achievement?
Yes! All my teachers and friends were very happy and proud. They congratulated me for writing and publishing my first book. Their encouragement made me feel confident and motivated to keep writing.
Please tell us about the process of getting your book published.
The book first went through a review process where it was checked for errors and copyright issues. After that, it was printed and the copies were sent to my school. Holding the first printed copy in my hands felt amazing!
But what is your favourite book?
My favourite book series is Harry Potter and my favourite author is J.K. Rowling. I really admire how she created an entire magical world that feels so real.
Next targets in writing?
I plan to write two more sequels to Captain Clumsy. I want to build a whole series around this funny superhero and his adventures.
