Hindi Diwas is observed every year on September 14 to commemorate the day when Hindi was adopted as the official language of India in 1949. The day serves as a reminder of the richness, cultural depth, and unifying power of our national language. At Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, the special day was celebrated with immense enthusiasm by the Kindergarten and Class I students, who came together to honour Hindi and showcase their budding linguistic talents.
The Kindergarten celebration was filled with joy, innocence, and creativity as the little learners presented a delightful recitation of Hindi poems (हिंदी कविता). Each child came forward confidently to share their verses on themes such as प्रकृति, जानवर, हमारा देश, ऋतुएं, घर-परिवार, और त्योहार. With expressive actions, cheerful voices, and genuine emotions, they infused life into every word. Dressed in colourful, theme-based costumes and using simple yet imaginative props, the young performers created a heartwarming atmosphere. Their energy, innocence, and enthusiasm reflected their growing love for the Hindi language.
The highlight of the programme was not just the poems themselves, but the way the children expressed them — through gestures, smiles, and vibrant expressions. Their ability to connect with the audience and communicate meaning beyond words was truly commendable. This celebration became a platform for them to build confidence, learn stage presence, and develop pride in their mother tongue.
The Class I students marked Hindi Diwas with a unique and meaningful activity. They recited dohas (couplets) by great Hindi poets, along with their meanings. This exercise not only helped them appreciate the literary beauty of Hindi but also deepened their understanding of its cultural and moral lessons. By interpreting the couplets, the children learnt valuable values of simplicity, respect, and wisdom that remain timeless across generations.
The programme provided an enriching learning experience, as the students enhanced their vocabulary, pronunciation, and expressive skills in Hindi. More importantly, it nurtured in them a sense of pride for their national language and its vast heritage.
The Hindi Diwas celebration concluded on a note of warmth and pride, leaving everyone inspired by the young learners’ performances. Through their innocent yet powerful recitations, the children reminded all present of the beauty, importance, and cultural significance of Hindi.
The event not only strengthened language skills but also instilled a sense of respect and love for Hindi, a language that connects hearts and celebrates India’s unity in diversity.
