Isha Monga, a young artist from Apeejay School, Nerul, has created yet another masterpiece, capturing the essence of three iconic Indian figures—Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Sir Ratan Tata, and Dr. Manmohan Singh. Selected as this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist, she shares the vision, process, and inspirations behind her awe-inspiring painting of a “legends’ reunion in heaven.”
Isha, what inspired you to paint such a lovely picture?
I painted Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam earlier after hearing about his incredible work and watching his motivational speeches. Similarly, I was inspired by Sir Ratan Tata’s philanthropic life and created his painting as a tribute when he passed away in October 2024. When Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away in December 2024, I learned about his remarkable achievements as a former RBI Governor, Finance Minister, Prime Minister, and statesman. Hearing about their contributions inspired me to honor them together in one artwork.
How have these three legends inspired you?
Each of them inspires me deeply. Dr. Kalam’s determination and hard work, Sir Ratan Tata’s compassion and philanthropy, and Dr. Manmohan Singh’s vision and leadership have taught me to see the world differently. Their lives prove that humility and greatness can go hand in hand.
How much time did it take to make this painting? Tell us all about it.
I completed the painting in two days, spending around three hours in total. I started working on it on December 26, 2024, just after Dr. Manmohan Singh’s passing.
And how has your school been supporting you as an artist?
My school has always encouraged me, whether in academics or art. I participated in the Camel Art Contest and won the ‘Best Entry’ award at the Zonal level. My teachers, coordinators, Vice Principal Ma’am, and Principal Sir have been very supportive.
Is art helping you with your studies?
Yes, art is like a stress buster for me. Whenever I need a break, I turn to painting. It also helps me improve my focus and pay attention to detail.
Finally, what new art have you been doing?
I recently completed an abstract artwork of a modern lady. I enjoy experimenting with different styles and themes.
