Legacy of Learning: A father and son’s journey at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg

Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, is known for shaping lives across generations. Harpal Singh, a proud alumnus of the Class of 2006, continues this legacy with his son, Nirmaan, now a student in UKG at the same school. In an insightful conversation, Harpal shares his experiences as a student and a parent, emphasising the pivotal role Apeejay Education has played in his personal and professional journey.

Can you share a memorable aspect of your time at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg?

The teachers, without a doubt. They were instrumental in shaping my academic foundation. I was an average student, but teachers like Mrs. Jagjit Kaur, who taught Mathematics, and Mr. Khanna, our Physics teacher, were incredibly supportive. Their dedication helped me transition from being below average to securing a spot in the top 15 of my engineering batch. I’ll always credit Apeejay Education for laying the groundwork for my success in aerospace engineering.

How did extracurricular activities enhance your school experience?

Sports played a significant role. I was part of the basketball team, and our coach, Mr. Vipinder Singh, was phenomenal. Under his guidance, our house team won the inter-house basketball championship twice.

How has the education at Apeejay School influenced your career?

The basics I learned at the school were invaluable. Subjects like Mathematics, which seemed daunting back then, became manageable thanks to the strong foundation laid by my teachers. This knowledge not only helped me excel in my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering but also prepared me for real-world problem-solving in my current role as Head of Operations at my family business.

What motivated you to choose Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, for your son?

Apeejay School has been a cornerstone of my family’s educational journey. My brother and I both studied here, and when the time came to choose a school for Nirmaan, it was an obvious decision. I genuinely believe it is the most decent and reputable school in Jalandhar. The values and education I received here made it an easy choice.

What are your hopes for your son’s journey at the school?

Right now, Nirmaan is just beginning with slanting lines and ABCs, but I’m confident that the school will nurture him as it did me. I look forward to seeing him grow academically, socially, and morally under the same roof that shaped me. This school has a proven legacy, and I’m thrilled that my son is part of it.
