
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the registration process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2026 Session 1. Aspiring candidates for undergraduate engineering, architecture, and planning courses can now apply online through the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.
According to the NTA, the online application window opened on October 31, 2025, and will remain active till November 27, 2025. The last date for successful fee payment through credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI is also November 27. The Session 1 exam is scheduled to be held from January 21 to 30, 2026, in computer-based mode.
How to Apply:
Candidates need to visit the official website and click on the ‘JEE Main 2026 Registration’ link. They must register using a valid email ID and mobile number, fill out the application form with personal, academic, and exam details, upload scanned documents, pay the application fee online, and download the confirmation page for future reference.
Exam Structure and Marking Scheme:
JEE Main 2026 will comprise two papers, Paper 1 (BE/BTech) and Paper 2 (BArch/BPlanning). Paper 1 will test Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, while Paper 2A and 2B will assess Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing/Planning-based skills. Each subject includes 20 multiple-choice and 10 numerical questions, of which candidates must attempt five numerical ones. Each correct response awards four marks, and one mark is deducted for every incorrect MCQ.
Syllabus and Sessions:
NTA has also released the detailed syllabus on its official website. The exam will be conducted in two sessions, in January and April 2026. Students can appear in either or both sessions, with their best score considered for admission and eligibility to JEE Advanced 2026, the gateway to the IITs.
