Jalandhar-based institute fosters student success via personalised guidance

The Student Advisory and Mentorship Committee of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar recently conducted a Mentorship meeting.

This programme is one of the best practices of the institute that encourages a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.  The programme is designed to support student success through personalised guidance. Faculty mentors provide academic, personal, and career advice to mentees. By fostering strong mentor-mentee relationships, it creates an environment where students feel supported in addressing academic challenges, exploring career options, and developing essential life skills.

This initiative enhances student engagement, builds confidence, and helps mentees navigate their college journey more effectively. Through regular interactions, mentors help in goal-setting and personal development, contributing to the overall well-being and success of students. This holistic approach not only prepares students for future career opportunities but also strengthens their interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and adaptability in a dynamic professional world.

In the School of Management (SOM), the programme meeting was successfully coordinated by the convener, Dr. R.R.Rajan Chaudhary, Dean of SOM, and in School of Information Technology (SOIT) and School of Engineering (SOE), the programme meeting was successfully coordinated by the convener, Dr. Avnip Deora,  Dean of SIT and SOE.

Wishing luck to both faculty mentors and student mentees, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC said, “The dedication and guidance provided by our mentors in the student mentorship programme fosters significant growth and development in the students thus, making the programme a shining example of our institution’s commitment to nurturing talent and empowering the next generation of leaders.”

Sharing her view point, MBA student Siya mentioned, “A mentorship meeting is a valuable opportunity to gain personalised guidance and support. It helps in overall grooming of Students. It provides a chance to discuss challenges, seek advice on academic or career goals, and receive feedback on progress. The meeting fosters a collaborative environment where the mentor shares their expertise, helping the student grow both personally and professionally. It also allows the student to build a meaningful relationship with a trusted advisor, which can contribute to long-term success.”

Additionally, Krish Arora, a B Tech student, highlighted, “The open and consistent communication fostered a strong relationship built on trust, making it easy to discuss challenges and progress. The programme’s structure was well-organised, with clear expectations and milestones, ensuring that both mentor and mentee were aligned in their objectives. Overall, this mentorship has been a rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the knowledge and perspectives gained throughout. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned and continuing to develop as a result of this programme.”
