The Ministry of Education hosted a dedicated session on advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education sector at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, underscoring the government’s push to scale AI integration in line with its long-term development vision.
Titled Ministry of Education – Pushing the Frontier of AI in India, the session was attended by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Jayant Chaudhary. The initiative formed part of a broader strategy to embed AI across the education ecosystem, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 and the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Over the last decade, the ministry has laid the foundation for AI-enabled education through national digital platforms, institutional reforms, policy frameworks, and large-scale capacity-building initiatives spanning school education, higher education, skilling, and advanced research.
A key milestone includes the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in AI for Education at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The ministry has also conducted extensive consultations with academia, industry, civil society, and government bodies to shape a comprehensive roadmap for AI integration.
The panel brought leaders from academia, industry, and the investment ecosystem, including representatives from Zoho Corporation, Inflection, and Peak XV Partners, along with directors and experts from leading Indian Institutes of Technology. The dialogue examined governance frameworks, national learning platforms, indigenous AI innovation, and responsible deployment of frontier AI models, outlining a national roadmap for AI-driven transformation in education.
