A student of Apeejay School, Noida, Suravi Gupta, has brought immense pride to her school and family by securing an impressive All India Rank of 80 in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). With clarity of purpose, disciplined preparation, and strong support from her family and teachers, she reflects on her journey, resilience, consistency, and a deep commitment to pursuing law to create meaningful change in society in a candid interview.
How did you feel when you saw your result for the first time?
It was a deeply joyful and proud moment for both my family and me. After a year of dedicated preparation, perseverance, and hard work, reaching this milestone felt truly rewarding. Throughout this journey, my family stood by me with constant encouragement, patience, and unwavering support, motivating me to stay focused even during challenging times. Their belief in me played a crucial role in turning this achievement into a cherished and memorable experience.
What inspired you to choose Law as a career while still being in school?
To bring about meaningful change, one must first understand how the system works. Law equips me with the essential knowledge, insight, and exposure I need to pursue my goals and contribute towards shaping a more just and informed society.
Could you share a little about your CLAT preparation journey?
I began my preparation towards the end of Class XI. As I moved into late 2025, the academic pressure of Class XII gradually increased, making it challenging at times to maintain a balance. However, my teachers were extremely understanding and consistently supportive, guiding and encouraging me throughout the journey, which helped me stay focused and motivated.
Which subject did you find the most challenging, and how did you overcome it?
I did struggle initially with the critical reasoning section, but I realised that, at the end of the day, practice may not make things perfect, but it certainly brings steady improvement. In exams like these, consistency and the determination to not give up, even when something feels challenging, truly make all the difference.
Was there a moment during your preparation when you felt like giving up? What kept you motivated?
My family made sure that I never burnt myself out by encouraging me to take sufficient breaks and enjoy moments of fun alongside my studies. Every time I stepped out, I would find something or speak to someone who reminded me of why I was working so hard. Those small yet meaningful moments kept my purpose clear and constantly motivated me to keep moving forward.
How did the support of your teachers help you stay focused?
My teachers were, of course, immensely helpful and understanding throughout the process. The school also organised interactive sessions where we could connect with our seniors and learn about their journeys. These interactions proved to be both insightful and highly motivating, giving us clarity, confidence, and reassurance as we worked towards our own goals.
What does becoming a lawyer mean to you?
Becoming an established lawyer places you in a position where you not only gain the knowledge and authority to work for the greater good, but also remain closely connected to people and their realities, keeping you grounded. In the long run, I also aspire to pursue judicial services, to serve society with fairness, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.
