Selected as this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist, Ashish brings a unique vision to his craft, combining his love for sketching with big dreams of venturing into manga—a popular art form beloved by Gen-Z worldwide. In this candid chat, Ashish opens up about his artistic inspirations, what makes art meaningful to him, and his future plans.
When did your passion for drawing begin?
I started drawing when I was very young, around five. It began as a fun hobby, and over time, I grew more passionate about it. Art has always been my way of expressing myself.
And which is your favorite art form?
Sketching is my favorite. It helps me improve my focus, and I find it both challenging and fulfilling. There’s something about sketching that allows me to pour my thoughts and emotions directly onto paper.
So, how does Apeejay School, Saket, nurture your talent?
My school is incredibly supportive of my artistic journey. They organize art exhibitions, encourage us to participate in competitions, and provide valuable resources like workshops and mentorship programs. These opportunities help me grow as an artist and showcase my talent.”
How do you define art?
To me, art is a brilliant form of self-expression—a way to convey emotions, ideas, or stories that words cannot. It’s about creativity and connecting with others. Art allows me to tell stories without speaking.
How long does it take to complete your artwork? Do you follow any themes?
On an average, it takes me about 2-3 days to finish a piece, depending on its complexity. My themes often revolve around abstract concepts, which allow for more creative freedom.
Do you have any upcoming projects?
I’m currently working on a sketch that should be completed soon. I also plan to explore manga art next, which I’m very excited about.
What new art form do you want to learn?
I’d love to learn manga and animation. I think it would expand my skills and offer a fresh perspective to my work.
Finally, what are your hobbies apart from art?
Apart from art, I enjoy reading. It inspires my creativity and often influences my artwork.
