Read edited excerpts:
How did Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg shape your personality and career outlook?
I joined the school in Class 3 and studied there till Class 12. Those years were truly transformative. Apeejay taught me resilience and discipline through its balance of academics and extracurriculars. I became inquisitive, hungry for knowledge, and these qualities still guide me both professionally and personally. Even today, five years after graduating, my school’s teachings remain a part of my daily life.
Could you share some memorable experiences from your school years?
One of my favourite aspects of Apeejay was its encouragement of extracurricular activities. I actively participated in dance programs, debates, and declamations, experiences that really enriched me. Another highlight was receiving the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values, a recognition unique to Apeejay. It reflects the school’s emphasis on integrity, discipline, and culture. I also deeply value the teachers, each of whom had a unique way of instilling knowledge and values that have stayed with me.
What inspired you to pursue commerce and eventually finance?
Initially, I loved economics, which made me choose commerce in Class 11. But soon, with the support of my school’s brilliant faculty, I grew equally interested in accountancy and finance. That early exposure built a strong foundation and eventually led me to pursue CFA alongside my career in consulting.
Tell us about your professional journey after graduating from Apeejay.
I graduated in Commerce from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University. Soon after, I joined KPMG India, where I currently work as an Associate Consultant in risk advisory and consulting. Being in a team of 20 professionals, I focus on advisory operations while simultaneously preparing for CFA Level 2.
What advice would you give Apeejay students aspiring for careers in finance and consulting?
Start early by shortlisting colleges and courses that align with your goals; your college will open many opportunities. Build curiosity, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities. And most importantly, create a realistic, achievable study plan if you pursue professional qualifications like CFA. Remember, consistency matters more than long study hours.
Finally, how do you feel about being part of Apeejay’s alumni network?
It feels surreal. Whenever I say I studied at Apeejay, people instantly recognise the name. The brand itself carries weight, and I feel proud that my school continues to be a big part of my identity.
