Fostering Empirical Excellence: Unveiling the significance of scientific exploration and research

In an extraordinary accomplishment, 30 students from Apeejay School, Nerul have achieved an unprecedented success by clearing the initial stage of the prestigious Homi Bhabha Bal Vaigyanik Competition, organised by the Mumbai Science Teachers Association (MSTA) on October 10, 2023.

The Homi Bhabha Bal Vaigyanik Competition is a prestigious scientific competition for school students in India. It is organized by the Mumbai Science Teachers Association (MSTA) and is named after Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, the renowned Indian nuclear physicist and the founding director of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. The competition is specifically designed to identify and nurture young scientific talent and promote an interest in science and research among school students.

The first level involves a theoretical examination, assessing students based on their general knowledge in science and its practical applications in daily life. Among the successful candidates, 18 students from Class IX and 12 students from Class VI have now progressed to the second round, which entails a practical examination requiring participants to conduct research on a topic related to the theme provided by MSTA.

This unique four-stage competition aims to spark curiosity, cultivate problem-solving attitudes, and develop precision in observational and motor skills among young scientists.

Madam Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson of Apeejay Education and Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, conveyed congratulations to the students for their outstanding accomplishment and extended best wishes for their success in the subsequent stages of the competition.

Mr. P. Subhash, the esteemed principal of Apeejay School Nerul, conveyed a profound sense of pride and satisfaction in response to the remarkable achievement of the school. Notably, he highlighted the substantial number of students who not only participated but also demonstrated an impressive level of proficiency in various scientific concepts.

“This accomplishment stands as a testament to the dedication of both the students and the educators who have worked diligently to cultivate a strong foundation in scientific knowledge. This recognition underscores the importance of cultivating a conducive learning environment that nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine interest in scientific exploration,” Mr Subhash expressed.
