Delhi: Govt issues advisory for schools amid heatwave predictions

As the temperature is increasingly rising in the national capital, the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) has advised schools to take proper measures to protect children from heat-related illnesses.

A circular issued by the DoE states: “All Govt/Govt-aided/Pvt unaided schools recognised under the Directorate of Education will have to ensure availability of drinking water to students in the schools. Students should be given water breaks during classes. Sensitise students to cover their heads (use an umbrella, hat, cap, towel, and other traditional headgear) during direct exposure to sunlight when coming or leaving the school.”

In addition to this, schools must report to a nearby hospital or health facility if any student has a heat-related illness case. Stay cautious! The temperature may soar above 40 degree Celsius in the coming weeks.
