Celebrating Service and Commitment: Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar wraps up NSS Camp

Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar concluded its seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) Camp with a grand valedictory ceremony, marking the successful culmination of activities. The ceremony was organised with great enthusiasm and reflected the spirit of service, learning, and social responsibility that defined the camp throughout the week.

The valedictory programme featured a technical session on digital addiction, conducted by Mr. Mohit Rubal from the Department of Journalism, who served as the Resource Person for the occasion. Addressing the students, Mr. Rubal expressed serious concern over the growing dependence on digital devices among youth. He highlighted how excessive screen time is increasingly leading to emotional exhaustion and intellectual decline among students. Drawing a compelling comparison, he observed that just as de-addiction centres were once established to address substance abuse, society is now witnessing the emergence of centres focused on combating digital addiction—an alarming sign of changing times. He further shared practical and preventive strategies to help students adopt mindful digital habits and lead balanced, positive lives.

During the ceremony, students who displayed exceptional dedication and commitment during the camp were felicitated with certificates and awards based on their performance and contributions. Over the seven days, NSS volunteers actively participated in a range of community-oriented initiatives in village Jamsher Khaas. These included wall painting drives, book donation campaigns, awareness programmes against drug abuse, and a pot decoration competition organised under the theme of environmental protection. The activities aimed to promote social awareness, environmental responsibility, and meaningful community engagement among students.

Several students were recognised for their outstanding efforts during the camp. Taranpreet was adjudged the Best Volunteer of the Camp, while Durvish received the award for Outstanding Volunteer. Harpratap Singh was honoured as the Best Programme Coordinator, and Pratham earned recognition as the Best Cultural Performer. The title of Most Punctual Volunteer was conferred upon Raghav, while Soumya and Divyanshu were awarded as the Most Disciplined Volunteers. Sahil and Gurkamalpreet Kaur were honoured with the title of Community Star, and Mannat was recognised as the Most Active Participant. Vishnu received the award for the Most Promising Volunteer, Shivam was honoured as a Promising Volunteer, and Muskan was also declared the Best Volunteer of the Camp. In the Pot Decoration Competition, Niharika secured the first position, followed by Komal in second place and Anshpreet in third place.

Appreciating the smooth and successful execution of the programme, Principal of ACFA Dr. Neerja Dhingra lauded the tireless efforts of NSS Dean Dr. Simkee Dev and her dedicated team comprising Ms. Ritu Sohal, Dr. Raman Dhadra, and Mr. Sachin Kumar. In her address, she remarked, “Such initiatives nurture social responsibility, discipline, and empathy among students. The devotion and teamwork displayed by the NSS unit truly reflect the core values and service-oriented spirit of Apeejay College.”

The valedictory ceremony concluded on a proud and reflective note, reaffirming ACFA’s commitment to holistic education and community service through impactful NSS initiatives.
