CBSE reminds schools on Class 10, 12 practical exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important reminder to all affiliated schools regarding the conduct of Class 10 and Class 12 practical examinations, internal assessments, and project work for the 2026 board examinations. The board has stressed strict adherence to prescribed guidelines to ensure a smooth and fair assessment process for students.

According to CBSE, practical exams and internal assessments play a crucial role in determining students’ final results. Schools have been instructed to conduct these assessments with complete transparency and responsibility. The Board has also highlighted that the marks awarded during practical exams and internal assessments must genuinely reflect the actual performance of students, as any discrepancy may lead to serious issues at a later stage.

CBSE has fixed the practical exam window from January 1 to February 14, 2026, for both Class 10 and Class 12 students. During this period, schools are required to complete all practical exams, project work evaluations, and internal assessments without delay. The Board has made it mandatory for schools to upload marks on the same day the practical exam is conducted. Once uploaded, the marks cannot be edited under any circumstances, making accuracy and careful verification essential.

In addition, CBSE has directed schools to ensure adequate availability of practical answer books before the commencement of exams. In case of any shortage, schools must immediately inform their respective CBSE regional offices to avoid disruptions. The Board has also instructed schools to keep all science laboratories fully prepared in advance.

The aim is to maintain uniformity, fairness, and credibility in the evaluation process while ensuring that students are assessed accurately and without inconvenience during the exams.
