CBSE Class XII Physical Education Tips: “Prepare short monthly notes and revise winners, records, and rankings”

As CBSE board exams approach, Class 12 students often feel confident about Physical Education—but scoring high still requires the right mix of preparation, presentation, and strategy. To help students strengthen their CBSE Class 12 board exam strategyMr Arvind Kaushal, HOD–PGT (Physical Education), Apeejay School, Pitampura, shared practical insights, scoring areas, and last-minute CBSE board exam tips to excel in both theory and practical components.

Theory–Practical Balance: Follow the 70:30 Rule

“Physical Education is a 70:30 balance—70% focused theory and 30% practical,” says Mr Kaushal. This makes theory preparation crucial for boosting overall scores, while regular practice ensures confidence during the practical exam.

Scoring Chapters Students Must Prioritise

According to him, units such as Yoga as preventive measures for lifestyle diseases, Sports and Nutrition, Test & Measurement in Sports, Physiology and Injuries in Sports, and Biomechanics are highly scoring.
“These chapters are concept-driven, have clear definitions, structured diagrams, and predictable question patterns. When students prepare these well, they can secure full marks,” he explains.

How to Write High-Scoring Answers

To attempt the board exam paper effectively, answer presentation plays a crucial role. Mr Kaushal advises students to keep their responses clean and structured, “Use headings, bullet points, diagrams, labelled figures, and always underline key terms. Stay directly relevant to the question—unnecessary content reduces clarity and costs marks.”

A neat and well-organised answer sheet creates an immediate positive impression.

Revising Current Sports Affairs the Smart Way

For the viva and practical component, students must stay updated with sports news. He recommends, “Focus on national and international events, Indian athletes’ performances, and government sports schemes. Prepare short monthly notes and revise winners, records, and rankings.”

Common Mistakes That Cost Marks in Practical Exams

Many students lose marks due to easily avoidable errors. “Inadequate warm-up, incorrect fitness test procedures, and lack of confidence during viva are common issues. Poor posture and not knowing rules of their chosen game also affect scores,” he notes.

A well-prepared file and regular practice can prevent these mistakes.
