CBSE Class 12 Computer Science Board Paper analysis: “Only two to three questions were slightly tricky”

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting the Class 12 board exam 2026 from February to April in the traditional pen-and-paper format. As part of the ongoing CBSE board exams 2026, students appeared for the Computer Science paper on 25 March 2026.

The three-hour exam commenced at 10:30 am and concluded at 1:30 pm. Students were given an additional 15 minutes, from 10:15 am to 10:30 am, to read the question paper before beginning the exam.

As per estimates, over 45 lakh students are appearing for the board exams across India and abroad this year.

Format of the Question Paper

The question paper was of 70 marks, with a duration of three hours, and was divided into sections.

Section A consisted of 21 questions (1 to 21), each carrying 1 mark.

Section B consisted of 7 questions (22 to 28), each carrying 2 marks.

Section C consisted of 3 questions (29 to 31), each carrying 3 marks.

Section D consisted of 4 questions (32 to 35), each carrying 4 marks.

Section E consisted of 2 questions (36 to 37), each carrying 5 marks.

Teacher Analysis

According to Mr Pankaj Ahuja, Head of Department – Computer Science, Apeejay School, Pitampura, the overall difficulty level of the paper was “moderate” and well-balanced in terms of syllabus coverage. He noted that the question paper closely followed the CBSE sample paper pattern for 2025–26, making it familiar for well-prepared students.

Highlighting the nature of the questions, he shared that most were application-based, aimed at testing conceptual clarity rather than rote learning. “Only two to three questions were slightly tricky,” he added, pointing out that the rest of the paper was fairly straightforward.

Mr. Ahuja also observed that the computer networking section emerged as the easiest part of the paper for most students. Emphasising preparation, he remarked that those who had been consistent with their studies and had practised CBSE sample papers, previous years’ question papers, and classwork “can easily score above 90% marks.”
