BuildingFutureLeaders: ‘Balanced academics and activities shaped my confidence’

She joined Apeejay School, Noida, in Class IV, and it has shaped her immensely. Academically, the school encouraged her to follow her dreams and has been supportive at every step. At the same time, the school also motivated her to explore her interests and hobbies. The balance between academics and co-curricular activities helped her grow into a more confident individual. Meet Amvi Jha, a Class XII student, who is an artist at heart.

In a candid interview, she shares how the school moments from her early years still stay with her.

If you could speak to your Class IV self on your first day at Apeejay Noida, what would you tell her?

I would tell her to believe in herself, keep creating without fear, and enjoy every learning experience. I would also tell her that it is okay if you does not become a scientist just because an astrologer said so. The journey ahead will be full of fun memories, new friends, supportive teachers, and opportunities that will shape you into a confident, talented, and loved person.

How has your approach to art changed? What role did the school play in that growth?

Earlier, art was mainly about enjoyment and colours. Now, it has become more meaningful and thoughtful. I focus more on concepts, emotions, and technique. The school played a crucial role by providing guidance, platforms, and encouragement, which helped me take art seriously.

Teachers, classrooms, or school moments from your early years that still stay with you today.

Teachers have always supported me. Some have helped me immensely in becoming who I am today and guiding me towards my dreams. Moments of appreciation from many teachers still stay with me. Those small words of encouragement left a lasting impact on my confidence and my heart.

What opportunities at Apeejay School, Noida, helped you gain confidence?

Opportunities like Inter-school competitions, displaying student artwork, receiving appreciation awards, and the time when my friends and I put up a stall at the winter carnival to sell paintings and handmade goods helped me gain confidence. These platforms made me comfortable presenting my work and made me feel seen.

Advice for juniors.

Never underestimate your potential. Explore your interests, stay curious, and do not hesitate to express yourself, whether through art or any other passion. Make the most of the opportunities your school offers and enjoy the journey of learning. Follow your dreams, have lots of fun, and make countless memories, because these days will never come back.
