Meaningful conversations and shared reflections help create a supportive roadmap for every learner’s journey ahead. On the same note, Apeejay’s IB School, Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, organised a coffee morning with the Principal for parents of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) students on January 17, 2026, centred on the thoughtful and timely theme of Preparing Students for Life. The session commenced by welcoming parents with a hot cup of tea and light refreshments, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for meaningful dialogue.
The morning began in the Meet and Greet Room with a healthy and engaging introduction by the Vice-principal, Ms Neha Sharma, along with the respective MYP facilitators. Setting the tone for the session, Ms Sharma emphasised the importance of collaborative discussions between parents and educators, remarking, “Today, we are here to discuss what lies ahead for our children. It is a significant day to reflect, connect, and move forward in a healthy and informed manner.”
The MYP-1 and MYP-2 sessions primarily focused on healthy parenting practices and understanding students’ emotional and academic experiences both at home and at school. The discussion highlighted the shared responsibility of nurturing children, beautifully captured in words, “Parents are their first home, and we are their second parents.”
The session began with a short video on being a mindful and supportive parent, followed by a highly engaging interactive activity. Parents were provided with two worksheets, one blank and another featuring seven key parameters representing a child’s holistic development, conceptualised as a ‘wheel of growth. They were encouraged to individually reflect and pen down their child’s strengths and areas for improvement. This was followed by group discussions, allowing parents to identify common strengths and challenges that require collective attention.
A thoughtfully curated word bank including terms like active, inclusive, creative, responsible, growth-oriented, to name a few provided to support the exercise. The segment concluded with meaningful one-on-one interactions between parents and teachers, addressing queries and concerns. A heartfelt video expressing gratitude to parents as the ‘real heroes of life’ marked the close of the session.
“I am truly grateful for choosing this school. Being a consistently top-ranked IB institute, it has proven to be the right decision for our child. Over the past year, I have witnessed remarkable growth in my son academically and personality-wise. He has become more open-minded, confident, and comfortable interacting in a global and multicultural environment, gaining valuable international exposure. The dedicated efforts of the teachers and the nurturing school culture have played a crucial role in his day-to-day progress reining from Armenia’s experience to India. Such thoughtfully planned events and initiatives truly act as the cherry on the top, reaffirming that we are on the right educational path.” shares Mr Arkadi, father of Meruzhan, student of MYP-1.
The MYP-3 parents experienced a highly personalised interaction, with Ms Sharma meeting parents individually and guiding them through their child’s learning journey. This personalised approach emerged as a highlight of the day, reflecting the school’s deep commitment to student well-being and parent partnership.
“It was a highly enriching session that offered deeper insights into the IB education framework. I am extremely satisfied with my decision to choose this school for my child. It is a progressive institution that consistently takes meaningful initiatives,” shared Mr Mahesh Chawla, father of Aarush Chawla, student of MYP-3.
Meanwhile, the MYP-4 session took place in a separate room and began with a general overview of the class. The discussion then shifted to crucial aspects of adolescent development, including the importance of ‘Me Time’, helping students build independence and personal space. Facilitators also spoke about the regulated and healthy use of screen time, the significance of physical reset through regular activity, and the role of emotional time, strengthening connections between parents and children.
Parents were then given a clear insight into What to Expect in MYP-5. A detailed video presentation outlined the roadmap ahead, including curriculum structure, assessment timelines, and academic expectations. This was followed by subject-specific discussions led by facilitators covering Mathematics, Science, English, Individuals & Societies (I&S), Language Acquisition (French and Spanish), Visual Arts, portfolios, E-portfolio (EE’s), and other core components of the MYP framework.
“It was an extremely well-conducted and insightful event that helped us gain a clearer perspective on our child’s academic journey in the coming years. The session provided a comprehensive overview and addressed our concerns thoughtfully. I am very happy with the experience,” shared Mr Sandeep, father of Jaydon, student of MYP-4.
An open reflection window was provided, allowing parents to freely express their expectations, concerns, and experiences. This candid exchange fostered trust and reinforced the school’s belief in transparent communication.
The coffee morning proved to be a meaningful and enriching experience, empowering parents with clarity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of their child’s journey. The event beautifully reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing not just academically sound learners, but balanced, resilient, and life-ready individuals; through strong parent-school collaboration.
