
The act of dancing is unifying. It brings people together, encourages inclusivity and eases cultural tensions. To commemorate April 29, International Dance Day, students, teachers and staff at Apeejay School Rama Mandi, Jalandhar organised an Inter-House dance competition.
Students of classes 4 to 10 presented various dance forms to mesmerise the gathering. Ms. Shama, the school’s dance teacher, paid special tribute to the rich heritage of India by amalgamating Natti, Haryanavi, Rajasthani and Classical form of dances. Continuing with the colourful and musical celebrations, Simran Kahlon of class 9 shared the importance of celebrating the dance day.
The judges for the Inter-House competition were Ms. Anushah Reddy, Principal at Playway School, Kings Apartment in Jalandhar and Ms. Aarti Shorey Bhat, Vice Principal at Apeejay School, Rama Mandi.
Students Harshpreet Kaur of Class 9 bagged the first position and Mannat, Class 6 student stood second. Shagunpreet Kaur, a student of Class 5 and Divyansha, class 6 student secured the third position. Pratham Soni and Arpanpreet Kaur from Class 6 bagged the consolation prizes. The school principal, Ms. Sangeeta Nistandra applauded the efforts of the students at the event. She stated that dance is an art form that helps express emotions and relaxes the mind, body and soul. She said, “On the occasion of International Dance Day, I wish that you all dance to the tunes you love and live life on your own terms. Happy Dance Day!”
