Bagless, Boundless, and Beyond: A day of fun & learning!

Imagine a school day with no heavy bags and no long hours of academic work—just pure, hands-on learning and exciting activities! Sounds like a dream, right? Well, for the Class 4 students of Apeejay School, Nerul, this dream came true with the much-awaited Bagless Day. A day where learning stepped out of the classroom and into the real world, making education an experience to remember!

With the vision of fun-filled, experiential learning, this initiative aligned with the NEP 2020 guidelines, offering students a chance to explore new skills in an interactive way. From discovering the journey of food to expressing creativity through a talent showcase, each activity was designed to make students think, engage, and most importantly, enjoy the process of learning.

The day commenced with an engaging briefing on the significance of the planned activities, setting an enthusiastic tone. Students then participated in “From Soil to Spoon,” an insightful session that traced the journey of food production—from soil preparation to harvesting—instilling an appreciation for farmers and sustainable agricultural practices. This learning was further reinforced through the “Sow and Grow” activity, where students planted vegetable plants around the school, gaining a deeper understanding of gardening and food sources.

The “Balance Beyond Books” session focused on holistic well-being, as students practiced yoga and meditation techniques to enhance concentration, reduce stress, and improve flexibility and strength. In the “No Flame Delight” activity, they demonstrated creativity and teamwork by preparing delicious treats without using fire, promoting healthy eating habits and basic culinary skills.

Adding to the excitement, a vibrant “Talent Show” provided students with a platform to showcase their skills, boosting their confidence and honing their public speaking and presentation abilities. The day concluded with “Clean Together, Learn Together,” where students collaborated to clean and organise their classrooms, fostering a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and ownership of their learning environment.

Overall, Bagless Day was a resounding success, offering students a refreshing break from routine academics while imparting essential life skills, fostering creativity, and nurturing a sense of responsibility towards the environment and community.
