Apeejay students explore spiritual heritage and engineering excellence

Students of the Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, recently participated in an enriching educational excursion and religious visit to Shri Anandpur Sahib and Nangal Dam. The thoughtfully curated trip aimed to provide students with a holistic learning experience that combined spiritual enrichment, historical understanding, engineering awareness, and opportunities for peer bonding beyond the classroom.

The visit commenced at Shri Anandpur Sahib, one of the most revered spiritual centres in Sikhism. Known for its deep historical significance, the holy city offered students an immersive experience into Sikh heritage and values. As they explored the sacred surroundings, students learned about the rich legacy of Sikh Gurus and the principles of faith, discipline, equality, and selfless service that form the foundation of Sikh philosophy. The serene atmosphere allowed students to pause from their routine academic schedules and reflect on the importance of inner calm, ethical living, and cultural respect. Many students described the visit as a deeply grounding experience that enhanced their understanding of India’s spiritual traditions.

The excursion then proceeded to Nangal Dam, a major engineering marvel and a vital part of India’s infrastructure development. At the site, students gained valuable insights into the dam’s role in irrigation, hydroelectric power generation, and regional economic growth. Faculty members explained the technical, environmental, and social aspects associated with large-scale infrastructure projects, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. For engineering and management students alike, the visit offered a practical perspective on resource management, sustainable development, and the challenges involved in executing and maintaining such landmark projects.

Beyond academic and educational value, the excursion also served as a platform for team building and interpersonal interaction. Traveling together, sharing experiences, and engaging in informal discussions helped students strengthen bonds with peers and faculty members. The trip encouraged collaboration, mutual understanding, and a sense of community—qualities essential for personal and professional growth. Recreational moments during the journey further added to the overall enthusiasm, making the experience both enjoyable and memorable.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, congratulated the accompanying faculty members—Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Kritika Khanna, Mr. Abhishek Sharma, and Ms. Jahanavi Arora—for the successful planning and execution of the excursion. He appreciated their efforts in ensuring that students benefited academically, culturally, and personally from the visit. Dr. Bagga reiterated that such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping well-rounded individuals by exposing them to diverse learning environments.

The excursion to Shri Anandpur Sahib and Nangal Dam stands as a fine example of AIMETC’s commitment to experiential learning and holistic education. By integrating spiritual awareness, cultural appreciation, and practical exposure, the institute continues to nurture students who are not only academically competent but also socially conscious and culturally informed.
