In celebration of World Heart Day, the Interact Club members of Apeejay School, Saket, paid a special visit to MAX Hospital, Saket. The visit aimed to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases and express their gratitude to the doctors for their commitment to heart health and saving lives. The event’s purpose was to highlight the importance of heart health and the essential role of doctors in promoting well-being. The students visited the hospital’s emergency ward to interact with the doctors and personally thank them for their tireless efforts in safeguarding public health.
“I took four students with me for this visit. I chose to limit the number of students because I believe the impact is greater when fewer children are involved,” shared Ms. Nalini Malik, the PGT Home Science teacher and in charge of the Interact Club. She emphasised, “When there are too many, it can feel more like a tour, which was not my intention.” Ms. Malik also credited the initiative to the vision of their principal, Dr. Sujeet Eric Masih, saying, “This initiative was inspired by our principal, who kindled the spark for this idea. We carried the torch forward from his vision.”
The students were warmly welcomed by the hospital staff and guided through the emergency ward, where they met with several doctors. To show their appreciation, the Interact Club members presented handmade ‘Thank You’ cards and a memento to the doctors, acknowledging their hard work and dedication, especially during the ongoing global health challenges. This heartfelt gesture symbolised the students’ admiration for healthcare professionals and their invaluable service to society.
During the visit, Dr. Palta, one of the senior doctors, took the time to speak with the students. He graciously accepted their expressions of gratitude and shared insights into the importance of heart health. His words resonated with the students, reinforcing the significance of the medical profession and the sacrifices doctors make to care for others.
Ms. Malik noted that the students were exposed to the reality of patients facing various challenges, adding, “They were visibly affected by witnessing the suffering of others. On our way back to school, they reflected on their own circumstances and recognised that they have much to be thankful for.” She expressed her hope that through such experiences, the students would come to appreciate all that they have.
The event concluded with a group photo to commemorate the visit. The students expressed their thanks to MAX Hospital for the opportunity to visit and learn more about the crucial work being done to protect heart health. They also reiterated their school’s commitment to raising awareness about cardiovascular care and the vital role doctors play in saving lives. The visit left a lasting impression on both the students and hospital staff, fostering a sense of community and mutual respect for the dedication of healthcare workers.
