
Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka recently conducted the annual meeting of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC). Dr. Etinder Pal Singh, Deputy Director and President of IIC, warmly welcomed all members to the gathering. Emphasising the council’s pivotal role, he mentioned, “The IIC has a special mandate to foster a culture of innovation both within and outside the campus.” Dr. Singh encouraged the members to bolster innovative initiatives across all spheres of institutional activities, including teaching, research, co-curricular, and extracurricular pursuits.
Dr. Srirang K Jha, the Convener of IIC, presented the annual report, summarizing the events and achievements from Quarter 1 to Quarter 4. This comprehensive report highlighted the various activities and milestones achieved by the council throughout the year. Following the report, the members deliberated on the upcoming activities for the academic year 2024-25. Their discussions aimed at building on the previous year’s successes and introducing new, impactful initiatives.
Key contributions came from various members, including Mr. Rishabh Jain, an alumni entrepreneur, and student members Amandeep Jaiswal, Yogita Ahuja, and Shweta Seth. They shared their valuable insights on how to further promote a culture of innovation at the institute. Their suggestions ranged from organising more hands-on workshops and interactive sessions with industry leaders to creating platforms for students to showcase their innovative projects.
Dr. Ishita Adhikari, the IPR Coordinator, presented her views on the importance of intellectual property rights in fostering innovation. She emphasised the need for awareness programs to educate students about the significance of protecting their innovative ideas. Dr. Vernika Agarwal, the Innovation and Start-up Activity Coordinator, discussed various initiatives to encourage entrepreneurial thinking among students. She proposed setting up an incubator within the campus to support budding entrepreneurs and provide them with the necessary resources and mentorship.
Dr. Ranjit Kaur, the SIP Coordinator, highlighted the importance of integrating social innovation projects into the curriculum. She suggested that students should be encouraged to identify societal problems and develop innovative solutions as part of their coursework. This approach, she argued, would not only enhance their problem-solving skills but also instill a sense of social responsibility.
Dr. Preeti Suryawanshi, the Social Media Coordinator, presented her views on leveraging social media to promote the IIC’s activities and achievements. She proposed using various social media platforms to create a vibrant online community where students can share their innovative ideas, collaborate on projects, and receive feedback from peers and mentors.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering an environment that nurtures creativity and innovation. The collective efforts of the IIC members aim to transform the Apeejay School of Management into a hub of innovative thinking and entrepreneurial activity. As the institute looks forward to the upcoming academic year, the strategies discussed during the meeting are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of its students and their contributions to society.
