Apeejay School of Management hosts National Conference on multidisciplinary studies

The Apeejay School of Management (ASM) organised a National Conference on Multidisciplinary Studies, in collaboration with esteemed academic partners including Apeejay Stya University, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Kalindi College, and Institute of Information Technology & Management. 

Dr. Etinder Pal Singh, Deputy Director of ASM, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and delegates, initiating the conference proceedings with insightful observations on the pervasive influence of the multidisciplinary approach across various domains, from medicine to manufacturing.

Following Dr. Singh’s address, Prof. Ashok Ogra, Adviser at Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, delved into the evolution of the multidisciplinary approach, emphasising its significance in converging diverse schools of thought. Dr. Vijay Vir Singh, Vice Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, delivered the keynote address, urging faculty members to embrace multidisciplinary approaches in teaching and learning, stressing the intrinsic value of such endeavors beyond mere compliance with educational policies.

The inaugural session also featured Mr. P. Sridharan Iyer, Chief Strategy Officer at Hashtag Orange, who delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Renu Batra, Adviser at Apeejay Education, underscored the pivotal role of faculty members in nurturing a multidisciplinary worldview among students in her closing remarks. Dr. Srirang K. Jha, the Convener of NCMS 2024, concluded the session with a vote of thanks.

Subsequent to the inaugural session, a dynamic panel discussion on “Promoting Multidisciplinary Approach in Higher Education” ensued. Prof. Sajal Mukherjee, Director of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, and Dr. Rachita Rana, Director of Institute of Information Technology & Management, shared their insights on the topic, moderated by Dr. Ishita Adhikari, Associate Professor at ASM. The discussion centered on the imperative of multidisciplinary education in higher learning institutions and the challenges associated with its implementation.

The conference witnessed the presentation of over fifty research papers across seven technical sessions, covering diverse fields such as commerce and management, humanities and social sciences, films and media studies, fine arts, ethics, law, and human rights. Esteemed scholars and experts chaired these sessions, with notable papers receiving recognition through Best Paper Awards.
