Apeejay College of Fine Arts to celebrate 6th Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav & Golden Jubilee

Apeejay Education has always been aware of the power of art and has laid a special emphasis on the development of art and artists.  Smt Rajeshwari Paul, the First Lady of the Apeejay Stya Group, was herself an artist and had an ahead of time vision to include art in the education curriculum in order to facilitate the holistic development of students. In remembrance of Smt Rajeshwari Paul and her vision towards arts and education, the Apeejay Stya Group annually celebrates the Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav.

Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar is gearing up to celebrate the 6th Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav and Golden Jubilee Celebrations, scheduled from April 2nd to April 5th, 2025.

The announcement ceremony commenced with a heartfelt prayer, seeking divine blessings for the upcoming event. Dr. Sunit Kaur, Head of the Department of English, addressed the students, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of these landmark celebrations. She highlighted that the event will feature a series of cultural and artistic programmes, reflecting the institution’s commitment to promoting art and heritage, a vision originally laid down by Founder Chairman, Dr. Stya Paul ji.

A key attraction will be exclusive Art and Craft workshops showcasing India’s rich artistic traditions. Participants will have the rare opportunity to engage in age-old art forms, including Warli art, Gond art, Miniature painting, Madhubani painting, Pipli, Pottery, Terracotta sculptures, Phulkari, Block printing, and Wood Inlay work. These workshops are open to all, offering a unique chance to experience and learn from expert artisans.

Adding to the festivities, competitions in Classical Music and Dance will be organised, giving talented individuals a platform to showcase their skills and win cash prizes and certificates.

Another major highlight is the Inter-State Craft Mela, where artisans from across India, including Odisha, West Bengal, and Banaras etc. will set up stalls displaying and selling regional handicrafts, apparel, and artwork.

Also, an evening of musical brilliance awaits the audience, featuring a live performance by Padma Shri awardee and celebrated folk singer Malini Awasthi, who will mesmerize attendees with her soulful renditions.

For the first time in ACFA’s history, an exclusive Painting Exhibition will be held, with artworks available for sale. The proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to charity, reinforcing the college’s commitment to social causes.

The grand celebrations will be graced by Mrs Sushma Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University and Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, adding prestige to the occasion.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal, ACFA, also addressed the gathering, emphasising the historical significance of these celebrations. She encouraged students to actively participate in workshops, competitions, and the Craft Mela, and to invite their family and friends to be part of this milestone event in the college’s illustrious journey.
