Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, hosted an insightful expert session on “Application and Career Pathway for Transforming Industries and Creating Opportunities”. The session featured distinguished speakers Mr. Shrikant Agarwal, Associate Director at Deloitte and an alumnus of IIM Calcutta, and Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Principal Group Software Engineering Manager at Microsoft India (R&D) Private Limited, Hyderabad, Telangana. The session aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its various branches, and the promising career opportunities it offers.
Exploring the World of AI
The session began with an engaging introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its various components, including Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI (GenAI), Agentic AI, and MLOps. A total of 40 students from the Engineering and IT departments actively participated, gaining valuable insights into the latest developments and applications of AI technologies.
Mr. Shrikant Agarwal elaborated extensively on Agentic AI, addressing students’ keen interest in the subject. He emphasised the benefits of acquiring knowledge in Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic AI, highlighting their potential to enhance resumes and improve job prospects.
AI Career Pathways and Opportunities
The speakers introduced students to various career pathways in the AI domain, such as:
- AI/ML Engineer
- Data Engineer
- Data Scientist
- Computer Vision/NLP Engineer
- Generative AI / Agentic AI Specialist
- MLOps Engineer
These pathways were outlined to help students navigate their career choices and align their learning with industry demands.
Guidance on Career Preparation
Mr. Mukesh Kumar highlighted the importance of pursuing quality internships, explaining how hands-on experience plays a crucial role in securing reputed job positions. Meanwhile, Mr. Shrikant Agarwal provided detailed guidance on starting the journey towards becoming a Data Scientist, AI/ML Engineer, or Data Engineer, emphasising the importance of structured preparation and skill enhancement.
The speakers also shared valuable free learning resources and recommended social media channels to help students stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and continue their professional growth beyond the classroom.
