An enriching mindfulness workshop aimed at benefiting school staff

An engaging and insightful workshop on mindfulness was conducted by Ms Arti Kansal at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park that captured the wholehearted participation of school faculty members. The workshop, which featured a blend of theoretical insights and practical activities, was designed to convey the profound concept of mindfulness and its applications in both personal growth and classroom management.

The workshop included a series of interesting group activities that effectively illustrated mindfulness techniques. Participants were actively involved, making the session interactive and dynamic. These activities not only helped in conveying the essence of mindfulness but also provided the teachers with practical tools they could apply in their daily lives and professional practice.

A significant portion of the workshop featured a snippet from a TED Talk by Phil Boissiere, which underscored the extensive research supporting the benefits of mindfulness. Boissiere highlighted how mindfulness practices improve the quality of life, enhance focus, and reduce stress.

The central theme of the workshop was the dual benefit of mindfulness practices: Aiding in personal growth and enhancing the ability to manage classroom situations. Ms Kansal emphasised that mindfulness can be a powerful tool for teachers, helping them maintain composure and control, which in turn creates a more conducive learning environment for students.

She also underscored the importance of incorporating yoga and meditation into daily routines to boost focus and concentration. These practices, she explained, are integral components of mindfulness and can significantly enhance mental clarity and emotional stability.

The overall session was met with positive feedback from the teachers, who found it to be a valuable learning experience. The blend of practical exercises and theoretical knowledge provided them with new strategies to implement mindfulness in their personal lives and professional environments.
