An Assembly of Appreciation at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park

Labour Day is not just about a date—it’s about honouring the human hands and hearts that build, shape, and support the world around us. Celebrated globally on May 1, it is a tribute to the workers whose relentless efforts form the foundation of economies and communities. It also serves as a powerful reminder of the dignity of labour and the need for fair, respectful treatment of all who work—regardless of the job they do.

At Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, this spirit came alive through a beautifully conducted special morning assembly by the students of Class XII-B. Held on the school premises, the event was themed Honouring Hard Work and the Impact of Labour on Economic Progress and Social Change—a powerful idea brought to life with energy, creativity, and heartfelt performances.

A Morning that Moved Hearts
The assembly began on a note of reverence with the school prayer and a soulful song, setting the tone for a celebration rooted in gratitude. Students took the audience through the latest news, followed by a thought-provoking speech and a stirring poem that paid tribute to the hands that build nations. A medley of motivational songs added a vibrant rhythm to the message of perseverance and collective strength.

A skit portraying the everyday contributions of workers brought many to the edge of emotion, while two energetic dance performances lit up the stage with joy and admiration. An engaging quiz segment deepened students’ understanding of Labour Day, blending learning with celebration.

A particularly touching moment was a special performance by the school’s very own support staff. Their lively participation was met with thunderous applause—proving that the celebration was not just about them, but truly with them.

In her address, Principal, Ms. Surabhi Joshi praised the thoughtful efforts of Class XII-B and reminded everyone of the importance of respecting every profession. She emphasized that the path to true progress lies in recognising the dignity of all forms of labour. She further urged all students to seek inspiration from the assembly and practice the values expressed.

A Fitting Finale
As the National Anthem echoed through the assembly hall, there was a shared sense of pride, respect, and purpose. The event concluded with heartfelt expressions of gratitude that brought smiles to every face—especially those whose tireless work often goes unseen. It was a morning that didn’t just celebrate Labour Day, but lived it in spirit.
